Stephen Elop: I must to Indonesia


President and CEO of Nokia, Stephen Elop, reveals that Indonesia is attractive market for Nokia. He also said he would visit Indonesia.
"Indonesia is a very attractive market with significant populations. I will definitely visit Indonesia, but in the near future do not have plans for it," explained Elop. In an interview with Kompas.com at Nokia Connection 2011 event at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, on Tuesday (21/06/2011), Elop express several plans for any future visit Indonesia.

Elop said, "I would learn how customers consume technology. I will come to the store, see how they buy and what they are talking about." Furthermore, Elop also expressed interest to meet with the retailers, operators, and distributors.

"I want to know how they work," he said. In a meeting with the three parties, he also wanted to ask if Nokia has been able to provide support for third-party and what could be assisted by Nokia.

One who ogled by Elop is the developer. "I'm definitely going to see them," he said. However, beyond what is done today to develop developers, Nokia has not had other plans. Elop not comment on the possibility of Nokia to build mobile phone factory in Indonesia.

In the event Nokia Connection 2011, Elop was present with his team to demonstrate a commitment on the three pillars of Nokia's strategy, including smartphones, technological innovation, and seek connections to the next 1 billion people. Also present at the meeting Marko Ahtisaari, Nokia's Head of Design.

Nokia introduced a number of new devices in the event. Some of these are dual SIM card mobile C2-03 and touch-screen smartphone Nokia N9, which is Nokia's first smartphone based MeeGo. Both will be released after July 2011. Nokia also stated its commitment to develop smartphones with Symbian platforms with plans to launch 10 Symbian platform devices within the next 12 months.
