DBM Energy companies are saying, lithium-polymer technology is lighter and efficient than lithium-ion batteries. They tried it in the Audi A2, to demonstrate its practicality.
[Swen Streubel, spokesman, L.E. Mobile]:
"This is not magic, we have all the components available in the car. In theory, we can show that traveled with electricity is possible, and suitable for everyday life. "
Unlike other electric cars where the trunk is used for batteries, "Hummingbird" wearing only a little space.
Last fall, the Energy DBM drive different versions, prototypes A2, to a record 600km journey from Munich to Berlin, with just one filling.
Federal officials from the Materials Research has examined the security of Hummingbird's battery, while the engineering services company DEKRA check performance.
DBM Energy said, their batteries have been checked and thoroughly tested.
[Klaus Reindl, Germany Motoring Club ADAC]:
"These batteries are very efficient. Will he be enough to travel with the electricity in the future remains to be seen, but this is a step into the future."
Hummingbird battery creator believes that this technology will be key to the future.
"If you produce more, economically it would be like a gasoline engine."
With stricter emissions rules than the EU which will take effect next year, all major car manufacturers have been mass producing electric cars, or in hot pursuit of this target.
